Introductory Course
Our bootcamp kicks off with a 30-hour Introductory Course, which teaches the fundamentals of visual, UI, and UX design. Learners will gain insight into the UI/UX field and the career possibilities available to qualified professionals. You can decide whether the course is right for you before committing to the full program.
400 Program Hours
The University of Wisconsin–Madison UI/UX Design Bootcamp teaches learners to use practical, theoretical, and technical knowledge throughout their professional journey. Our full program offers hands-on training for industry-leading tools and software, such as Miro to organize research, Adobe Creative Suite for designing digital assets, Figma to create mockups, HTML and CSS for front-end development, and more.
Project-Based Learning
Throughout the collaboration phase of the program, you will work on multiple portfolio-building projects. This centers on a multi-disciplined approach to help learners quickly grasp real-world concepts while learning industry best practices to incorporate in their design processes.

Introductory Course
The first course in our program introduces you to the foundations of visual, user interface, and user experience design and the many roles within the UI/UX industry. -
Design Fundamentals
The fundamentals phase of the curriculum reviews the basics of visual, UI, and UX design to help set the foundation for your design training. Learn to approach projects with a designer mindset while exploring important design tools, such as VR/AR, the IoT, Adobe Creative Cloud, and core UI/UX concepts. -
How to Think Like a Designer
This course focuses on shaping your perspective and teaches you to think like a professional designer by introducing you to the larger digital landscape, such as VR/AR, IoT, and how to design digital products in physical spaces. -
Visual Design Essentials
This course teaches the fundamentals of visual and graphic design, such as design principles, theory, and history. This course provides learners with an experiential understanding of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign. -
UI Design Essentials
In this course, you will develop visual design knowledge with a special focus on UI design. Learns will work on ensuring designs meet minimum standards as defined by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. -
UX Design Essentials
This course teaches the foundations for various deliverables and common UX assets design professionals create on a daily basis. You will practice using the information architecture to organize information when building an app or website. -
Design Process
This phase explores the various ways you can approach a design project and aims to teach you the core fundamentals of the design process. You will examine the various steps in the design process in careful detail, performing tasks related to each aspect to help develop these crucial skills and knowledge. -
Conducting Research
Throughout this portion, you will learn design research methods to help you successfully build products that fit user, market, and business needs. Learners will explore remote tools such as Zoom, Miro, and Otter.ai. -
Ideating & Prototyping
Through our hands-on approach, you will learn to create sketches and paper prototypes before learning how to quickly identify viable design solutions using low- to mid-fidelity wireframes. -
Usability Testing
In this course, learners will explore usability tests, including the various kinds, how to set them up, and how to successfully conduct tests on your designs. -
High-Fidelity Design
Explore the importance of images, color, typography, and iconography and learn how to apply them to achieve an attractive, accessible, and functional product. -
Microinteractions
Learn the essentials of animations such as microinteractions, including when, where, and how to use them, and the various transitions used among digital states. -
Design Collaboration
Learning to work in teams and with other designers, professionals, or clients is a major aspect of working as a design professional. This phase emphasizes team participation and working with other classmates to help prepare you for a position in the industry. You will also touch on important subjects, such as front-end development and digital marketing. During this phase, you will work on your design portfolio, ultimately developing a professional portfolio you can showcase to potential employers. -
Team Project
The team project offers all learners the opportunity to work in a small team to build a product that leverages all of the skills, knowledge, and tools learned throughout the bootcamp. You can feature the project in your professional portfolio as an opportunity to showcase your learned skills. -

This course provides an in-depth overview of web development. You will learn how a website is built, starting with the basics of HTML and CSS. -
Introduction to Digital Marketing
Understanding digital marketing will provide you with a vital understanding of business and market demands. This course covers the essentials of digital marketing, including SEO, copywriting, and designing for social media. -
